Description
The Volunteer Passport is a free course delivered by Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service (DACES). You can come on it if you are thinking about volunteering for the first time. Or you could be already be volunteering several hours a week but want to learn more. You don't need any qualifications or experience to come on a course.
Volunteers are important. They help people in Derbyshire in a variety of different ways. Helping others is one of the five ways to wellbeing. These are 5 steps you can take to help improve your mental health and wellbeing. The others are connect, be active, take notice and keep learning. Volunteering is a great way of doing most of these.
The Volunteer Passport course is usually 10 hours long and split into a few sessions. It looks at key topics all volunteers should be aware of including:
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Responding to Incidents
Keeping yourself and others safe
Teamwork and customer care
It is an accredited course and you will get a certificate at the end of it if you complete all the coursework. We run both online and face to face courses. You can choose which suits you best.
You will learn informally as part of a small group. You will be encouraged to take part in activities and group discussions to share your ideas. You will complete an evidence booklet as part of the course. Your tutor will help you to progress at your own pace.
If you can't see a course advertised that meets your needs please get in touch to register your interest. We can let you know what is coming up.
