Description
Take time out for yourself and enjoy the benefits of crafting. Discover how creativity can support positive mental health and wellbeing through a range of textile and paper crafting activities. Running from 10:00am to 2:30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break from 12:00pm to 12:30pm for 3 sessions. This welcoming and supportive course offers time and space to relax, focus on the present moment, and enjoy the calming benefits of making something by hand.
You will explore a variety of crafts such as weaving, simple stitching, hooking, designing your own fabric and cards and seasonal projects. Alongside learning new creative skills, you will be encouraged to use crafting as a tool for stress reduction, self-expression, mindfulness, and building resilience.
The course promotes confidence, a sense of achievement, mental and emotional wellbeing while providing opportunities to connect with others, reduce feelings of isolation, and develop positive social relationships in a friendly supportive environment.
Who is this course for?
Brightside is for anyone experiencing mild to moderate mental ill health. Brightside courses give you the tools and support to manage your worries and live a happier, more balanced life. Our Tailored Learning courses are for people who live in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire aged 19 and over.
How will I learn
This is a classroom-based course. The course will be a mix of tutor-led activities and demonstrations, individual work. Your tutor will give you support and feedback so you know what to do to improve. You will be given notes and resources to support what we cover in class.
What will I need?
All crafting materials will be provided. But if you have materials etc. that you would like to bring with you then please feel free to do so.
You may also want to bring something to make notes.
This course is free and there are no other costs.
